Stephanie Smith, NCC, LPC has a Master’s degree in Counseling from Governors State University. She specialized in marriage, couple and family counseling and holds a Level 1 certificate in Gottman Couples Method. She has experience working with couples of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and LGBTQ+ couples. Stephanie also has experience working with children, teens, and families dealing with grief, divorce, anxiety, work stress, difficulty adjusting to life stages, and a variety of other issues. She loves to work with clients from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and is LGBTQ+ affirming.
Stephanie uses a mix of therapy approaches to help clients, including client-centered therapy, Gottman Couples Method, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian therapy, and Narrative therapy. She likes to incorporate expressive arts, like painting and writing, and elements of play therapy for all clients. In order to help clients improve how they feel about themselves and their relationships with others, Stephanie likes to teach clients how to recognize and name what they are feeling and experiencing, and how to communicate this effectively with others.
